How we use business contact information

Somerset Chamber of Commerce represents and supports businesses across Somerset. To invite businesses to take part in our research, events and membership, we keep a list of Somerset companies and their published business contact details. This notice explains what we hold and why.

Who we are

Somerset Chamber of Commerce (company number 03025625, Equity House, Blackbrook Avenue, Blackbrook Business Park, Taunton, Somerset TA1 2PX) is the data controller. Dome Marketing manages the list and sends our emails on our behalf, under a written agreement. We send email through Brevo.

What we hold

Company name, company number, registered office address, company type and status, business activity (SIC) codes, website address and a general business email address such as info@ or enquiries@. We do not collect named individuals' email addresses.

Where it comes from

The public Companies House register, the company's own website, and public postcode data.

Why we hold it

To invite Somerset businesses to share their views, for example through our Somerset Voices survey, and to tell them about Chamber events and membership. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: representing the views of Somerset business. We only email limited companies, LLPs and other corporate bodies. We do not email sole traders or partnerships without their consent.

How long we keep it

If a business does not engage with us, we remove its details within 24 months. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a do-not-contact list so that we never email you again.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. You can also object, ask what we hold, ask us to correct it or delete it, by emailing manager@somerset-chamber.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Survey responses

Answers to the Somerset Voices survey are collected by Somerset Chamber of Commerce through Microsoft Forms. The survey explains how those answers are used.
